It was a very good experience, well spaced out, and the air conditioning was on. I felt I had a soothing and pleasant experience with no hassle, as the energy was all balanced and shared.
The only improvement I wish to see is that there will be a cash box for the maid cafe event since I don't like to make it a habit using my credit card.
I am definitely dedicated to the commitment of celebrating YumeCon's festivities and that the service has been excellent.
Overall, a supremely A+ experience that I felt I was happy to be alive there, no hassles and enjoy my experience without any criticism or skepticism.
I really am hoping and praying that YumeCon will keep this winning streak full steam ahead for eternity, financial health and seamless prosperity with the health and safety of the mass attendees of the present and distant future :)
It was a very enjoyable and lowkey con! A bit lacking in activites aside from gaming and performances (which were all amazing) but for the price it was very reasonable! Would love to see this con grow even more!
I wanted to try table as a vendor but I felt the fee was too high for a con of this size that just became a 2 day con. I know it's still growing but I personally don't think the foot traffic justifies the cost to table, at least not yet.
Other than that I am excited to see the convention grow. This is my first YumeCon and I can see the potential. I think there could be more things to do but that will come in due time.
The premise of having a YumeCon is cool in itself, but it felt like there was little at the event that represented Yume or made it stand out differently than any other anime convention. I wish there had been more about selfshipping in Yume or things in the Yume community. Maybe even things related to oc x canon, character development/design with your OCs. Things of that sort.
The other pertinent thing was the lack of awareness drawn to the COVID policy. This should have been on the email went tickets were sent and a banner on the main page of the website. Constant reminders on social media accounts, etc. To just leave it to a single web pages tucked in the website when many websites have a Covid policy page that usually just recommends to follow local ordinance - you cannot expect people to not overlook this. Since the policy was strict it should have been made more aware. My criticism is not regarding the policy itself - I have no problem bringing a vax card if I had known. I luckily had a photo copy tucked in an email, but some of my party that traveled from out of state were not so lucky since they did not know to bring it. So many people were surprised when they came in and had this sprung on them and many could not enter. This is completely due to a lack of proper communication.
My son and I came to the event on Sunday only. The main reason was because of Lizzie. I am a huge fan of Rent A Girlfriend and Lycoris Recoi where she was a voice actress. After checking in we went upstairs then go the signatures I wanted.
We toured the rest of the dealers room. It was small but some of the booths has stuff that was nice. We ended up picking up one figure.
We went down to the auction. This was very disappointing. The good in the auction we stickers and other goods that were just not interesting at all. The reason I mention this is that something happened at the auction that offended me. One smaller woman was bidding. It got to a point where she did not want to bid anymore. The host bent down and got close to her then REALLY pressed for her to keep bidding. It was too much after she had said she did not want to bid anymore. My son spoke out under his breath. We left the con soon afterwards.
The staff are nice and helpful I forgot my medical card for Covid reason but my brother thankfully help get my Covid vaccinationin my phone and best part they still give you a medical mask for safety reasons.
Yumecon is a really great smaller convention experience! It was my first time but I really really enjoyed it! Super friendly and helpful staff members made the experience really enjoyable and all of the programming was exciting and entertaining! The artist/vendor hall was really well done with a wide variety of fandoms and interests to look at, the game hall had a good variety and the maid/butler cafe was super well done! The main stage events were also super fun! I hope Yumecon grows bigger, I had so much fun!
The cost didn’t justify the size and what was offered. It was a letdown as I was looking forward to this con. Other people expressed their disappointment about the price as well. In the end I only went for about 20 mins and left to go hang out with. Not gonna attend again.
Had a lot of fun meeting new people and getting to know them a bit better plus there’s some dope cosplayers that I recently met lol 😆
Super fun!! Lots of great artists in the AA. What bothered me for the two panels I ran, the people running the panels right beforehand ran too long and I started over 10 minutes late on both of my panels. It is on the staff to cut off panelists at their end time and it would help if there was a 10 minute turnover/setup time for panelists. The isekai tavern was a cute idea but needed more going on in there like more board games or themed music, the drinks were too pricy especially the non alcoholic one and the bartender was not that friendly (though I think he was hotel staff and not con staff so I get it). Weird that the charity auction was scheduled first thing on Sunday. Not a lot else on the schedule for Sunday so I didn't go but the potential is there for this to grow into a great weekend con. The Holiday inn is a decent space but you could also host it at the DoubleTree like MAGWest does if you are looking to grow even more.
