Young artists will dive into a colorful painting adventure with local artist Tori Carr. Kids can choose watercolor or acrylic as their medium while learning simple step-by-step techniques to create their own artwork on canvas. Along the way they’ll explore color mixing, layering, and creative brushwork with a variety of artist tools. While guidance is provided, kids are encouraged to add their own creative touches and make a masterpiece that is uniquely theirs.

Adults are invited to enjoy a relaxed rooftop watercolor workshop at 700 Parc on Main while learning to paint mushrooms. Instructed by Christina Miles, participants will practice color blending, layering, and brush techniques while creating their own mushroom-themed artwork, all with inspiring views of downtown Vacaville. Materials included to take home: paintbrush, sampler watercolor set, cups for water, paper towels, and a printed project on professional 140 lb (300 gsm) 100% cotton watercolor paper. Note: attendees must be able to climb three flights of stairs.

Young artists learn to see downtown Vacaville through an artist’s eyes in this creative workshop. Each student receives a personal sketchbook and explores observation, drawing, and simple watercolor techniques while sketching trees, flowers, architecture, and everyday details. Guided by a Joyful Art Center instructor, kids practice turning what they see into expressive sketches—just like plein air artists. Includes sketchbook to keep, instruction, and all supplies. Please bring walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle.

Young artists explore downtown Vacaville through texture and pattern in this creative workshop. After a short guided walk to discover surfaces like tree bark, leaves, brick walls, and metal grates, kids create crayon rubbings to capture the city’s hidden textures. Back at the art station, they combine their rubbings into a colorful mixed-media collage inspired by nature and downtown architecture. Includes guided texture walk, instruction, and all art supplies. Please bring walking shoes, hat, sunblock, and a water bottle.

Youth ages 8–17 are invited to explore the Japanese art of origami in this workshop beneath the redwood trees of Andrews Park. Using colorful origami paper, participants will learn traditional folding techniques to create birds, animals, and flowers. This 2nd Annual Arts Weekend will be held Friday April 17th & Saturday 18th, 2026 in Downtown Vacaville and at Vacaville's Andrews Park. Featuring local arts organizations, landscape painting demonstrations, artist craft talks, painting workshops, artwork for sale, live music and dance performances, face painting, and an extended Farmer's Market.
