Description
Enjoy basic to intermediate Plein-Air watercolor classes with Rob Finn at three unique sites on Mount Desert Island. Take all three classes as a set or one or two individually. Locations: La Rochelle, Seal Harbor Beach & Somes-Meynell Wildlife Sanctuary.
These three very different sites have it all for watercolor enthusiasts. Build on drawing skills, establishing proper proportions, sighting space and distance and explore different styles of expression through color and composition.
Sign up for a day or the series, these classes offer opportunities to render flora, architecture, land and sea. Instruction is tailored to subjects and styles people would like to investigate. Each day will start with a morning demonstration from 9 am – Noon, (time for your packed lunch) followed by a painting session with individual instruction through 4 pm. Restrooms are available at each site. Each site has different physical geography and students are expected to be able to carry supplies and navigate uneven terrain. Please reach out for more specific information on individual sites.
Monday, July 13th– La Rochelle, Bar Harbor. This site offers vistas of Frenchmans Bay, Bar Island, La Rochelle, a 1903 Gilded Age cottage, and a variety of garden spaces.
Tuesday, July 14th– Seal Harbor Beach. This site offers a sand beach, a busy harbor, views of small islands, and a former cannery building in the distance. You may want to bring an umbrella as there is little cover.
Wednesday, July 15th – Somes-Meynell Wildlife Sanctuary. Located on the “Quiet Side” of MDI this site offers 250 acres of water views, denser foliage, and sometimes if you are quiet loons.
Tuition $325 for the series or $125 for individual classes.
