When Andy Dufresne is convicted of murder and sentenced to life in the notorious Shawshank prison, he must find a way to keep himself and his hope alive by using his wits and forging friendships. Based on the novella by Stephen King, The Shawshank Redemption brings the story of resilience made famous by the acclaimed film to the stage.
Very well done!
Great performance
We found Arena Fairs production to be very well done and extremely moving. My husband and I are big fans of the movie and found the play to be very accurate in telling the story. We thoroughly enjoyed it and went home and watched the movie for the umpteen time the next day. Great work.
The character who played Red was excellent. The music was also excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the play. My only complaint was that it was difficult at times to hear and understand the communication between actors. When they spoke up, I could hear them well, but when they were having quiet conversations between them, it was difficult to decipher what they were saying. I would say that I missed about a third of the spoken words. If you could emphasize enunciation and volume, it would make the play more enjoyable. Even so, I got the gist of what was happening and still enjoyed it very much.
The Shawshank Redemption at the Willis Theatre in Delaware, Ohio was excellent. Every actor did an amazing job of portraying each character. Steve Jefferson was outstanding as he guided the audience through the production. The set was interesting and used effectively to convince the audience the men were in a prison. Congratulations to the crew who did the scene changes very effectively. Everyone involved on stage and off should be very proud of the production. The audience loved it!
Excellent production!
I always leave Arena Fair productions with goosebumps.
The cast & crew did an admirable job with a difficult play. Scene changes were tight & very quiet. The entire cast was good - no trouble believing that they were block mates & guards. If this was the first Arena Fair production I’d seen, I would definitely want to come back again.
The acting was excellent. The play was a powerful drama, and I was moved to tears at the end. The water for a donation was helpful, the ticket scanning was efficient, and the restrooms were clean and convenient.
Having read King's novella and enjoyed the movie version, I was not sure how some aspects of the story would be presented. I loved it! So creative, and the acting was splendid. So glad to have the opportunity to attend.
A fabulous show!! The actors were great, so authentically bad guys, and the staging, the multiple scene changes, the lighting- all were spectacular.
