I went to this event strictly for the chocolate. Initially walking in it did seem on the small side. That being said, my husband and I spent a solid two hours tasting and buying chocolate. There were some bean to bar makers here that I have never heard of before and had some beautiful well-made craft bars. Overall, it was a great experience.
I came with my mom and we loved this!! We got to try so many different kinds of chocolate we had never even imagined before. The vendors were all so nice and welcoming which really made all the difference. Lovely people and good chocolate. I would definitely come back again.
A great chocolate experience. Just the right amount and variety of vendors (chocolate and non-chocolate) to make an interesting social and learning environment. Prices were high but considering the quality of the products, they were understandable. The vendors were knowledgeable and friendly. If there were more vendors, it would be too much of a good thing - total chocolate overload. Keep the show small and intimate, and perhaps lower the pricing for admission and tutored tastings.
Had a great time at a fantastic event. Well organized. Awesome vendors -so many free samples! Amazing selection of tutored tastings to select from. Can’t wait for next year!
Had a great time. Would like to see some chocolate sculptures on display. Products were amazing quality.
PS: The ads said the show opened at midnight (12 am)! I'm sure others mentioned this....
Great event.
Had a great time. Lots of samples and items to choose from.
Great event. I wish we had it more often! Thanks
Great experience!
Lots of sampling for us to test before purchasing!
We were chatted with informative and friendly experts at each of their stations.
Overall the Fair was an enjoyable experience. My friend and I really appreciated all the volunteers who helped to make the show run smoothly. The 1:00 PM tutorial was interesting and learning about chocolate harvesting, etc. was quite informative. I learned a lot in that one hour. Also there was a good variety of vendors (I.e. it wasn't just chocolate bars).
Cons: We arrived at approx. 9:30 a.m. and left around 3 PM. During that time, my friend and I wanted to grab lunch, but there was nothing available in the Convention Centre! One of the organizers suggested going to the restaurant at the hotel next door. However, that restaurant was only open for breakfast and re-opened at 4:00 PM for dinner. We didn't have access to our vehicles so we walked to a sports bar about a 10 min walk from the OCC. The weather was not bad so it wasn't a big deal; however, next time, I would either bring lunch or make sure I had my car with me. Having a caterer available (even cold sandwiches / coffee) would be appreciated.
I look forward to attending your cheese event and would be especially interested in the different cheeses available in Ontario. I can get cheddar / swiss / etc. at the grocery stores. I am looking for more unusual cheeses that are NOT readily available elsewhere, such as water buffalo / goat cheese / pecorino / etc.
