Richard Shindell lives as both an immigrant and emigrant, crossing thresholds, that informs his illumination of the human experience through narrative song. Shindell has inhabited a Zen Buddhist monastery and busked in the streets of Paris.
Originally from New York, now living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Shindell is a writer whose songs paint pictures, tell stories, juxtapose ideas and images, inhabit characters, vividly evoking entire worlds along the way and expanding our sense of just what it is a song may be. Meticulously recorded over three years in New York and Buenos Aires, his most recent release, Careless, offered an ambitious, luxurious, full- length statement. Shindell immersed himself in the studio, allowing the time and latitude to explore, experiment, take risks—to play as each of these eleven songs was given form and substance. While his signature acoustic guitar style is used to good effect, Careless also found Shindell plugging in more.

As always, Richard gave a 5 star performance. A master storyteller.
Excellent venue, good acoustics. Liked the desserts a good touch. Richard is the best and Jess was also great. Will see her again.
great venue both of these artists were spectacular While I am a long time fan of both of these artists I specifically chose this show to see Jess Klein. Its been a couple of decades since I saw her last and I was thrilled that she continues to give such a great performance.
Richard Shindell was equally impressive. I love how they both set up their songs with a story.
This concert was excellent! The performers were outstanding and the way the event was organized was well-done.
The experience of the volunteers involved with The Troubadour Concerts was evident to me in the way the ticket process was set up, the professional-seeming acoustics and sound in the performance room, and the layout of the room that offered refreshments. I think it was clever that each table had a container for donations. Compared to having only one container available, that system encouraged people to give money.
I loved the songs that Jess Klein and Richard Shindell performed on Friday evening. I had never heard Jess before, and I found that I liked her style & her personality very much. Richard was as talented as ever though I was disappointed that he didn't sing more of the songs on the album through which I first learned of him -- Cry Cry Cry. I understand why he didn't; probably he wants people to know his more current style of songwriting.
I give the concert 5 stars.
This was a great evening, a masterclass in songwriting and performing. The artists really connected with the audience and included songs that are fan favorites. Richard’s guitar playing was dazzling. We traveled over an hour to the show and it was well worth it. The venue was intimate and comfortable, with ample parking, as well.
Great evening! Jess Klein was superb. Richard Shindell delivered on all fronts, with old favorites and new music.
Comfortable venue, welcoming host, fine acoustics and terrific performances by both Jess and Richard. Will definitely return for another show.
