Candlelight Christmas Concert – Taste of the Old World Christmas

Bask in the glow of candlelight and the enchanting sounds of the season with the Third Coast Chamber Collective. Join us for "Taste of the Old World Christmas," an evening that celebrates the rich traditions of European Christmas customs through music, flavors, and festive delights.

Set in the magical ambiance of Ravenstone Abbey, this intimate concert invites you to experience cherished Christmas classics performed by the exceptional talents of the Third Coast Chamber Collective, featuring the ensemble's core members and guest artists:

Meet Our Distinguished Artists

Nick Murdick
Nick Murdick is an accomplished horn player and alphorn soloist who frequently collaborates with violinist Irina Mueller in duo and trio performances. He is passionate about baroque music, regularly performing continuo and bass lines on the horn. Nick was a featured soloist in the Montana Northern Arts Association Recital Series, performing Reinhardt’s Horn Concerto and Brahms’s Horn Trio alongside Irina Mueller.

He has performed as a horn and alphorn soloist with the Goppisberg Music Festival Orchestra in Grächen, Switzerland. During his time in Switzerland, he designed and taught an individualized horn and alphorn course over three years and performed as a soloist and chamber musician in various cities across the country.

Recently, Nick appeared as guest principal horn with the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra in an all-Beethoven concert in Petoskey, Michigan, and is currently performing as guest principal horn with the Itasca Symphony Orchestra for their Christmas concert. He has also performed as a substitute and extra horn player with prominent orchestras throughout the Midwest, Canada, and the western United States, including the Cincinnati Symphony, Pops, and Chamber Orchestras, as well as the Calgary Philharmonic.

Beyond music, Nick has entrepreneurial interests in the food and beverage industry. He co-founded Presto Kombucha, introducing Indiana’s first draft kombucha bars, as featured in Indianapolis Monthly (2015).

Nick earned an Artist Diploma from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he served as the horn studio graduate assistant and studied under Randy Gardner and Duane Dugger. He also studied alphorn with Fritz Frautschi and William Hopson in the Swiss Alps and has participated in masterclasses with renowned horn players Barry Tuckwell, Francis Orval, and Hans Pizka.

Pedro Oviedo
Pedro Oviedo, a Paraguayan violist and conductor, has extensive experience in music education and string pedagogy. As Music Director of the Itasca Orchestra and Strings Program, he serves as conductor of the Itasca Symphony Orchestra and leads the strings program.

As a violist, Pedro has collaborated with numerous professional orchestras, including serving as Associate Principal Viola with the Symphony Orchestra of Northwest Arkansas and performing with the Uninorte Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Paraguay, Asunción City Symphony, Centro de Conocimiento Symphony (Argentina), Orchestra Crescendo (Germany), Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, Ohio Light Opera, and the Itasca Symphony Orchestra. He is also an avid chamber musician and a prizewinner in several competitions.

Passionate about music’s transformative impact on society, Pedro is a graduate of the prestigious Global Leaders Program, where he earned an executive graduate certificate focused on social service, innovation, pedagogy, organizational management, and entrepreneurship.

Irina Mueller
Violinist Irina Mueller regularly performs in duo and chamber music collaborations with her fiancé, Nick Murdick (French horn and alphorn). She has given solo recitals across the United States and Germany, and her orchestral performances have taken her on tours throughout Europe and Japan.

Irina has appeared as a soloist with orchestras, including performances of the Brahms Violin Concerto in Germany and Romania. She was formerly a member of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, where she served as Acting Assistant Concertmaster for several years. Additionally, she has held leadership roles as Co-Concertmaster of the Great Falls Symphony, Interim Concertmaster of the Muncie Symphony, and guest concertmaster with several other orchestras.

Irina has served on the faculties of Ball State University, Taylor University, and the University of Great Falls. She has also taught at the Goppisberg Music Festival and Academy in Switzerland, sharing her expertise with young musicians.
