Favourite queer event in Ottawa.
The venue was quite out of the way, so didn't love that, but the live music was absolutely AMAZING! What great covers and keeping everyone moving. I would LOVE to see some sort of bracelette or other system that signaled to others if you're single and wanting to mingle. No one wants to come off as creepy when out to meet folks, and it's so much easier when there is a thought out space to do just that. Looking forward to future events!
I think maybe things have gotten a bit too big. I love Overflow, but if you don’t have a dance type performer than the venue isn’t being used as it should be. Really the tables should have been out. The performer was fun, but it was more « pub » music. Maybe paring this down to a smaller venue would be better where you sell out as opposed to having an empty venue.
The Festive theme wasn’t carried over to anything. The performer wasn’t dressed up, nor were the servers. There were no prizes or theme things spreading throughout.
Also, there are some accessibility issues. The flashing strobe lights may be a deal breaker for people like me who have light sensitivity related illness/disability. There are amazing lighting options that don’t have to flash or use damaging white light.
I think that your events are important. If you tighten a few things up and book performers before selling tickets so that you can advertise it, structure the theme around the vibes of the performer and the location, then you can bring back that community feel and sell more.
Great venue performance area atached to brewery..spacious dance floor for mingling and grooving..music outstanding:two dudes (somehow sounding like more), guitar and drums and with a DJ playing tunes in between each of their ample live sets...good-spirited bar servers and coatcheck...tacos available if munchies hit...everyone being themselves ...beautiful vibes...thanks!
Great job. I enjoy the Overflow Brewery location. A live band is always fun and entertaining.
Nice crowd but the music was horrible … I almost fell asleep with the music they were playing . There should some nice dance / disco music instead (even a Spotify playlist would help ) … that’s least we could expect from a party .
The music is really bad. The second DJ played 'lo-fi' music that is not appropriate for a dance party. I love these events but I've been constant disappointed by the bad music. You could literally put on Lady Gaga, Madonna, Beyonce etc. And everyone would be happy. A DJ is not necessary at all
Really enjoyed the evening! I would love to know the name of the live band. They were excellent!!
