About the show
WARNING: This is NOT your grandparents' Austen! A bold, surprising, boisterous and timely exploration of the thrills of finding your perfect (or imperfect) match.
Regency England. The dawn of the 19th century.
The Bennet family live on Longbourn estate in Hertfordshire. The estate must pass to a male heir, of which the Bennets have none. In order to save the family from destitution upon the death of Mr Bennet, at least one daughter must make an advantageous match. Despite this grim outlook, the clever and outspoken second daughter, Lizzy, is determined never to marry. But her plans for independent spinsterhood are put to the test when the wealthy, mildly handsome, vaguely amusing and entirely irritating Mr Darcy arrives in Hertfordshire with his best friend, Mr Bingley.
A new, joyful, big-hearted adaptation of a classic novel that brings the satire and playfulness of Austen’s love story to the fore, this is a surprising and timely Pride and Prejudice for the 21st century.
