Meeting Mortality: A Modern-Day Rite of Passage

What if turning towards death could help you live more fully?

Death is one of the few experiences we all share, yet many of us have little opportunity to explore it before it arrives in our lives. Whether through the death of a loved one, caring for someone at the end of life, or facing our own mortality, many of us discover that these are conversations we wish we'd had sooner.

Meeting Mortality is a gently held retreat day offering space to explore death, dying, grief and what matters most. Rather than focusing on fear or loss, we approach mortality as a natural part of life and an invitation to reflect on how we want to live.

Together we will explore the realities of death and dying, learn how we can better support those approaching the end of life, and engage in meaningful reflection on our own lives, values and wishes.

The day includes:

• Understanding the process of dying and what commonly happens physically, emotionally and spiritually

• Exploring how we can support others at the end of life

• A guided nature-based life review

• A Death and Grief Tea Circle

• Reflection on our own later life, legacy and end-of-life wishes

• Time in nature, quiet reflection and connection

This day is suitable for anyone who feels curious about mortality, wishes to deepen their relationship with life, is navigating questions around grief or loss, or wants to prepare more consciously for the future.

No prior experience is needed. You do not need to be facing a recent bereavement or end-of-life situation to attend.

Held in a beautiful woodland yurt at Motts Sauna, Menheniot, this retreat offers a warm, supportive and welcoming environment in which to explore one of life's most universal experiences.

A nourishing vegetarian and vegan lunch, along with homemade cake and refreshments, is included.

We believe that when we make space to meet mortality, we often discover a deeper appreciation for life itself.
