Join us for another Trail Traveling Show with Will Kempe’s Players, as Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure takes to the woods for a theatrical adventure filled with twists, tricks, trouble—and plenty of surprises along the way.

Measure for Measure uses all the devices of sweet Shakespearean comedy to explore a world that isn't always so sweet. Behind the disguises, mistaken identities and romantic entanglements are questions of oppressive law, foolish law enforcement, disease, slander, coercion and even execution.

Serious stuff?

Absolutely.

But in the hands of Shakespeare—and Will Kempe’s Players—it becomes a wild, funny, thought-provoking and ultimately hope-filled roller-coaster of a story.

And as before, you won't simply watch it from your seat.

You'll follow the story down the trail.

STAGE I: Murray’s Fools Distilling Co.: The trouble begins.

Rules are made. Rules are broken. Authority is handed over—and things quickly become much more complicated than anyone expected.

Meet Shakespeare's collection of rulers, lovers, lawbreakers and fools as our story gets underway at Murray’s Fools Distilling Co.

There will be questionable decisions.

There will be romantic complications.

And before long, not everyone will be exactly who they appear to be.

STAGE II: West Glenville Grain & Glass Trail – a ¼-mile wooded path: Into the woods we go.

Follow the players along the wooded Grain & Glass Trail as disguises are donned, identities become tangled, tricks are played and plans begin to unravel.

The trail becomes the stage and the woods become Shakespeare's world as actors and audience travel together through the story.

Keep your eyes open.

With this crowd, appearances can be deceiving.

Intermission

After all those tricks and twists, you may need a drink.

Pause along the journey for craft cocktail specials, local beer and snacks available for purchase before we discover just how Shakespeare plans to get everyone out of the mess they've created.

STAGE III: Wolf Hollow Brewing Company: Secrets revealed. Tricks exposed. Love—and justice—put to the test.

Our journey reaches its final destination as disguises fall away, mistaken identities are sorted out and everyone must finally face the consequences of what has happened along the way.

Through all its comedy, Measure for Measure asks questions that remain strikingly relevant more than 400 years later: Who gets to make the rules? Who gets to enforce them? What happens when those in power fail to live by their own standards? And when punishment is deserved, is there still room for mercy?

Expect revelations.

Expect reckoning.

Expect love.

Then raise a glass as our woodland theatrical adventure comes to an end.
