Welcome to the Hudson to Harbor Artist Invitational.
Inspired by the history of Maine’s connection to the Hudson River School painters, “Hudson to Harbor” is the Bar Harbor Historical Society’s annual fundraiser. In the mid 1800’s many Hudson River School painters migrated north to capture the essence of the rugged coastline of Maine. They were famously followed by rusticators (early tourists) who on seeing these paintings were compelled to experience the landscape so viscerally captured by the artists.
Bar Harbor Historical Society invites over 25 artists influenced by Maine to exhibit at La Rochelle. The artist reception is Saturday August 2nd 5-7 pm. This ticketed event includes drinks and lite fare at sunset on our piazza. All works are for sale and a portion of sales supports the Historical Society. Carl Little, author of many books and publications on Maine artists will choose one work for the raffle prize.
From Monday through Friday August 4th-8th the exhibit is free and open to the public.
