I enjoyed the fair. Bring the first one for a while it had lots to offer. Sheep shearing was informative, oxen, goats it was great to see some farm animals.
Hoping next year there will be more of everything, so more to enjoy!
It just wasn’t the same as the old folk fest.I expected as much. I appreciate that they tried. About 1/3 the size of the original. We got thru the place in less than 2 hours. We used to stay all afternoon. I do hope they continue it next year. Hopefully it will grow a little. I would probably still go again.
Thought it was a good first year attempt. Really enjoyed the sheep shearing. That was very informative and entertaining. I liked that there were local food vendors. I think that’s important to keep.
I think there could have been covered seating in close proximity to the other food stands. And just a place to sit and get out of the sun.
I see some people mention the quilt barn. I know that is a huge undertaking and needs a knowledgeable and personable coordinator, but maybe it could be considered sometime in the future… before most of the quilters pass away! And some people mentioned not enough homesteading information, or demonstrations. Maybe next year.
Small but nice! Glad I didn’t have to pay to park and the entrance fee wasn’t to high. Hopefully they’ll get more participants in the coming years.
Great first year! So glad they keep the tradition going. Hope to see it continue to grow for many years.
We have attended this fair for the last few years & it was much better & bigger than this one. There were not many vendors or people attending the fair. We were disappointed so we did not go again the last day as we were planning to. We did enjoy the food we ate & the vendors were very friendly. My husband was happy to buy a black t-shirt that showed the name of this fair on the front. He wanted to buy more merchandise, such as a cap, but you didn't sell anything else. The admission price was fair for what was there. We were looking forward to buying bread & sweets, like last year, but none was offered. We hope these comments were helpful. Thank you.
Great event! Will be back next year, hoping for more of the same.
We had a wonderful time at the Festival. The booths, food, shows, and demonstrations were great! Since my husband and I are Kutztown (State College) graduates we would love if they would continue having an alumni event during the Festival which would also bring more out of town visitors like ourselves. Can’t wait to come back next year and see what has been added!!
Glad to see they are continuing the festival.
The Eastern PA Homestead Festival was a pleasant surprise! The day included many of our favorite vendors from the Kutztown Folk Festival and there were plenty of food options. Our family enjoyed the sheep sheering demonstration. The festival was about 1/3 of the size of the Kutztown Folk Festival, but had enough of everything we enjoyed. I missed not seeing the quilts in the barn, but was not expecting that to continue at this festival. It would have been great to have the bakery onsite to bring home fresh bread and PA Dutch desserts. I thought the musical stage was a bit too loud - I didn't attend them but was overpowered by the volume just walking around that area.
Overall, I most definitely will attend again and I hope the festival was a success for all the vendors and organizer for it to continue!
