D-DAY CELEBRATION DAY

To commemorate the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day on the 6th June 1944, in collaboration with Aero Legends, there will be a special day at Compton Abbas Airfield. The sun will shine, the engines will roar and history will come alive.

On the day highlights include vintage visitors flying in, including a few from HAAF Historic Army Aircraft Flight. Please visit their stand raising money for Military Veterans! An array of invited military vehicles will decorate our paddock with their owners dressed to commemorate the day. You can expect to see Tiger Moth bi-planes, Spitfires (Elizabeth and Lady Luck), North American T6G Harvard, Chipmunks, Beaver and Auster, to name but a few.

Land Girls and Boys will be bringing the retro vibe alive on D-Day, and the RAF Cadets will be lending a hand as event day hosts.

Delicious food and drinks will be available all day courtesy of Lore of the Sky. Bunting will be hoisted high, pick and mix sweets and Lore of the Sky, The Smoking Barrels and the Horsebox Bar will all be open. Blending nostalgia with the Great British spirit, afternoon cream teas, summer picnic boxes and feast hampers will be available. Washing it all down with lashings of ginger beer, of course. Vintage vocalist, Sally and 23 piece Shaftesbury Town Silver Band.

Pre-bookable D-Day Picnic Box for two. Let us help you get into the wartime spirit with a good old-fashioned picnic. This D-Day picnic box for two will include a selection of filled mini baguettes, cheese scones with butter, scotch eggs, sausage rolls, crisps, fruit and slices of cake.

D-DAY FAMILY PICNIC (4+)

Pre-bookable D-Day Family Picnic. This larger feast still including all the good old-fashioned picnic favourites but aimed at a family or group of 4+. The family Picnic will include a variety of filled mini baguettes, cheese scones with butter, scotch eggs, plenty of sausage rolls, crisps, fruit and lots of slices of yummy cake. Just remember to bring your picnic blanket to make room for it all!

• Gates will open from 10am to the general public, please have your tickets ready and follow the marshals guidance.
  
• We would appreciate your patience at busy times and be mindful our staff are working really hard so everyone can enjoy their day.
• Please remember this is primarily an outdoor occasion. We recommend you bring clothing, hats and sunscreen appropriate for the June weather.
• Seating available will be first come, first served and is not guaranteed. The grass area to the east of the display paddock is ideal for blankets and deck chairs if you wish to bring them along.
• Well behaved dogs on leads are permitted and water in bowls is provided, however shade is limited and we would always recommend owners weigh up the pros and cons of bringing your canine friend to a loud and busy environment. 

Our D-Day Celebration Day is not an Air Show, so there will not be a programme available or set times to see things.
