Clayton BBQ Challenge 2024 - Bands, Beer and Barbeque Cookoff in Downtown Clayton

Lot’s of fun, good music, food, and beer shared with friends.

Great live music and location. Parking was tight but worked for the amount of people that attended. Only negative was we arrived on time for our tickets and event (2 pm) and the BBQ was done and judged by 3 pm. The full event did not end until 6 pm.

Very short window for "unlimited sampling" of the BBQ. Also, was not told who's BBQ we were sampling so we could not participate in the vote.

I was excited for this event but wasn’t sure what to expect. The positives was some good variety of breweries present, lots of choices in beers, some good music by bands. The weather turned out for the day

Negatives: I came hungry expecting my “unlimited samples” of bbq and instead had just a sample from ONE place as the rest ran out. Wtf. This was not a cheap event. I ended up having to buy a plate from a food truck which was delicious but added on the cost for the day. This was false advertising in my opinion

Was down from Pennsylvania. Had a great time tasted some good beer and barbecue .

Waste of money! Very few vendors and only 1 that had BBQ sampling. Even that one ran out at 3:30PM. The event was to go to 6PM. I'll never go again.

Will likely attend again next year. Would like to see more BBQ next year. By the time we arrived at 2:30 there was only one stand still giving out BBQ so we didn't get to taste all the others plus they also ran out. We had the plus tickets which was supposed to be unlimited. Hopefully it gets straighten out by next year. Beer was all good.

I loved all the beer tents and the little glasses for samples. The music was great and the food trucks were yummy. I didn't like how the BBQ was handled. I was expecting to sample multiple tents of bbq similar to how the beer was done. Instead we stood in line and had no idea who's bbq we were eating and therefore had no way to vote on the best bbq. At 3pm they ran out of BBQ because we had got in line to sample bbq and were told they had run out. around 4pm they had more bbq to eat. The bbq was disappointing.

This event was a blast. It was fun trying all the local breweries, having some good BBQ, and hearing a great band. The only thing I would change is the BBQ set up. It said there were 28 competitors and it would have been nice to see their tents where you could pick who to try. Getting in a line and handed a plate you weren’t sure what you were eating or trying or who cooked didn’t really highlight the hard work that went into the BBQ challenge.

I was disappointed with the BBQ food. I was expecting to see food being cooked or smoked from a smoker. The free beer, and the music was outstanding! I was happy to see bottled soft drinks available at no cost.

Great atmosphere!
