The Lost Art of Las Vegas
With so much wealth concentrated in Las Vegas, it’s no surprise that our city has pockets of incredible art collections here too — tucked away in private homes or exclusive spaces in high-end casinos. We’ve also lost iconic pieces as casinos were demolished over the years, and items like neon signage has only lately been considered worthy of preservation. So where is all of this “lost” art, and will the people of Las Vegas ever get to see it?
Dayvid Figler, co-host of the popular daily podcast City Cast Las Vegas, will be joined by Heather Harmon, Executive Director of the future Las Vegas Museum of Art, for a live podcast taping at the Rita Deanin Abbey Museum — one space that does make a vast, important collection of art available to the public. They’ll have a provocative conversation about art as both commodity and public good, and the interplay between the worlds of private collections and museums for all.
“The Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum is not just a space to view art — it is a venue where visitors can truly connect with the creative spirit of a remarkable artist.” ~ Laura Sanders, Executive Director, RDA Museum. Learn more at ritadeaninabbeymuseum.org
